Call for Peer Reviewers – Neurodiversity and Queer Identities Journal Issue
We are looking for students to take part in a facilitated peer review session this April – no prior experience necessary.
Peer review is central to academic publishing, this session is designed to demystify the process and give you the chance to try it in a supported, low-stakes environment.
What's involved?
A 2-hour group peer review event where students will have the opportunity to give feedback on the academic work of their fellow students.
- Authors submit their manuscripts →
- Peer reviewers assess their quality (this is where you come in!) →
- Editors contact authors with peer reviewer feedback for revision →
- Successful manuscripts get published as journal articles.
Peer reviewers will be instructed by our team of editors on how to review papers for general quality, accuracy and academic writing standards. All materials will be provided at the session.
You will be assigned to review 1 – 2 papers based on your area of expertise and interests. Our current manuscripts are mainly on neurodiversity and queer identities, but we also have some papers on AI/medical sciences, education/graphic design and psychology/law.
How do I register?
The event will take place on Wednesday 29th April 2026, 13:00 – 15:00 at Student Skills Centre room 1. Register your attendance here: https://libcal.northumbria.ac.uk/event/4531985
